IBC Containment Unit Setup Guide
Swipe from right to left to proceed through the setup steps!
Part Designation
This instruction guide will refer to the parts as described.
Required Tools
Remove Packaging
Using Scissors or a similar tool, cut the packaging material and remove it.
NOTICE - to avoid damaging the unit, assembly requires two people.
Remove Parts Bag
Inside the pan, near the front of the unit there will be a bag of additional hardware. Locate the hardware and remove it at this time.
Check Materials
Check for the following parts in the part bag.
Cut Shipping Straps
Cut the shipping straps securing the back panel.
Remove Back Panel
With the help of another person carefully lift the back panel up and set it aside.
Install Right Side Wall
With the help of another person holding the side in place, remove the two shipping bolts near the bottom of the unit and keep them nearby for use in a later step.
Install Right Side Wall
With the help of another person, rotate the side panel 180° so that the protruding flange is directed inward.
Install Right Side Wall
Prep the Side Panel by positioning it with the flange facing inward and towards the front of the Unit. With the help of another person take the Side Panel and slide it into the pan.
Bolt Right Side Wall
With the help of another person to hold the side in place, use your fingers to start the threads and hand tighten the four bolts. We will torque the bolts properly at the end of the assembly.
Install Left Side Wall
With the help of another person holding the side in place, remove the two shipping bolts near the bottom of the unit and keep them nearby for use in a later step.
Install Left Side Wall
With the help of another person, rotate the side panel 180° so that the protruding flange is directed inward.
Install Left Side Wall
Prep the Side Panel by positioning it with the flange facing inward and towards the front of the Unit. With the help of another person, take the Side Panel and slide it into the pan.
Bolt Left Side Wall
With the help of another person to hold the side in place, use your fingers to start the threads and hand tighten the four bolts. We will torque the bolts properly at the end of the assembly.
Install Back Side Wall
With the help of another person, orient the back panel as shown and lift it into place. The bottom edge of the panel will fit between the inside of the pan and the sides that were previously installed.
Bolt Back Side Wall
Use your fingers to start the threads and hand tighten the eight bolts. We will torque the bolts properly at the end of the assembly.
Install Side Panel Screws
Place a washer before each screw and then use your fingers to start the threads of the six screws – two are needed at the bottom of each side panel. We will torque the screws properly at the end of the assembly.
Flip Up First Door Section
Flip the lower door segment of the unit up, and then use the pins on each side to hold the lower door segment in the upright position. You may have to adjust the side panels so the pins fully engage with the door.
Locate Door Pins
We will now move the interior door pins into their respective storage holes (shown here) to unlock the top half-door.
Move Door Pins
First, remove the pin from the locking hole. Next, rotate the pin 90°. Finally, insert the pin into the storage hole.
Flip Up Second Door Section
Flip the top half-door section up and hold it in position.
Locate Door Pins
We will now return the interior door pins into their respective locking holes (shown here) to lock the top half-door.
Return Door Pins
First, remove the pin from the storage hole. Next, rotate the pin 90°. Finally, insert the pin into the locking hole.
Adjust the Sides
If necessary adjust the sides of the unit until the door pins go in and out freely. Preferably there should be a about a 3/8” gap on both sides of the door. Use an appropriate measuring device on the lower door segment to confirm this.
Tighten Bolts and Install Side Panel Screws
With the door now in position, tighten all of the bolts, do not exceed 20 ft lbs. of force. Now tighten all of the screws but do not exceed to 10 in lbs. of force.
Test The Door (1 of 6)
Now lets test the door. We are going to do the steps described previously but in reverse.
Test The Door (2 of 6)
Remove the pin from the locking hole. Next, rotate the pin 90°. Finally, insert the pin into the storage hole.
Test The Door (3 of 6)
Flip the top half-door section down.
Test The Door (4 of 6)
Let’s continue testing the door by moving the pins in the lower door segment.
Test The Door (5 of 6)
Remove the pin from the storage hole. Next, rotate the pin 90°. Insert the pin into the locking hole to lock the door.
Test The Door (6 of 6)
Remove the pins on each side and then flip the lower door segment of the unit down. The door pins should go in and out easily. If you are having difficulty moving the door pins, adjust the side panels.
Lift Composite IBC
Using an appropriate lifting device, lift the Composite IBC above and over the stops in the front of the containment unit.
Lower Composite IBC
Carefully lower the Composite IBC onto the rollers/supports. If your unit is not equipped with rollers, position the Composite IBC before it comes in contact with the supports. Moving a Composite IBC resting directly on the supports may damage the corrosion resistant paint.
Adjust Position
If your containment unit is equipped with rollers, carefully push or pull the Composite IBC to adjust the position of it.
Close the Door
After the installation of the Composite IBC is complete, close the containment unit’s door.
Locate Fill/Drain Connector
This unit can be configured for either filling or draining. Locate the ½ -14 NPT dispensing portal and determine if it is in the correct position for your needs.
Remove Connection Housing
Unscrew the four screws holding the dispensing portal in place. Do not discard the screws, washers, or gasket.
Remove Cover Plate
Unscrew the four screws holding the cover plate in the new location. Do not discard the screws, washers, or gasket.
Install Connection Housing
Insert and tighten the four screws (do not exceed 10 in lbs.) to hold the dispensing portal in place. Ensure the gasket is properly fitted around the dispensing portal.
Replace Cover Plate
Insert and tighten the four screws (do not exceed 10 in lbs.) to hold the cover plate in place. Ensure the gasket is properly fitted around the cover plate.
Connect Hose for Filling
The dispensing portal supports a ½ -14 NPT thread hose. The IBC containment unit does not come with the hoses or adapters to connect to the Composite IBC.
Connect Hose for Draining
The dispensing portal supports a ½ -14 NPT thread hose. The IBC containment unit does not come with the hoses or adapters to connect to the Composite IBC.
Close the Door
After any work is complete, close the containment unit’s door.
Remove the Composite IBC
In the event of a spill the pan can be emptied. Before emptying the pan, drain any remaining fluid from the Composite IBC into an appropriate container. Then remove the Composite IBC from the containment unit.
Remove the Flame Barrier
Remove the flame barrier by lifting it straight up, then slide it off to one side. Take care not to bend the flame barrier.
Pump Out Fluid
Place a hose in the pan of the IBC containment unit and use an appropriate pump to remove the fluid from the pan.
Replace Flame Barrier
Once the pan is empty, remove the hose and replace the flame barrier.
Close the Door
After any work is complete, close the containment unit’s door.
